The New Castle Post Office relocates from downtown to the corner of Frew Mill Road and Cascade Street. Mail continues with no service disruption as staff transfer operations. A multi-position letter sorter replaces the old machine, with a second sorter due after Christmas, each capable of about 35,000 mails per hour. A new vehicle maintenance facility with paint booth and drive-through wash accompanies the move.

Beirut radio tallies 650 killed and injured in fighting
Beirut radio reports at least 650 killed or wounded since the start of the clashes on Thursday. Other sources put deaths at 100.
