Analysts expect a new New Deal program, relief funds, debt expansion past 60 billion, and possible adjournment before a defense focused tax bill.
North street bridge and Croton avenue traffic flows improved after a newly resurfaced top. pedestrians praise the efficient application and the machinery used. In the House of Commons Foreign Under-secretary Richard Austen Butler said Britain may bomb Rome in response to Italian air attacks on London. He stated His Majesty's government must reserve full liberty of action regarding Rome after Italy announced its planes and pilots were joining attacks on London.
The German government refused to guarantee safe conduct for a United States vessel to travel to Great Britain to repatriate about 1200 Americans. Italy promised to protect the ship from submarine attack, after which Berlin authorities were shown the note. Ambassador Kennedy urged Washington to send a US vessel to bring home Americans in London.
Tyler Kent, ex clerk at the U S embassy in London, received seven years penal servitude for violation of the official secrets act. He had been dismissed before arrest. His alleged accomplice Anna Wolkoff, said to be the daughter of a Russian czarist general, was jailed ten years.
James Gibson aged 52 was struck and killed today by a truck while crossing a Sharon street. He played with Steubenville in 1909 in the O P League.

British air ministry reports heavy night raids on Berlin area targets including Spandau and a railway junction northwest of Berlin. Attacks hit Leuna synthetic oil plant, Homburg, Duisburg inland port, and factories near Düsseldorf. Dover vicinity bombardment by Nazi guns claimed sinking a British convoy ship. A German claim disputes the damage.
MINNEAPOLIS Nov. 7 Minnesota kept Roosevelt’s column in the national race while Republicans surged in state races. Gov. Harold Stassen was re elected by a large margin about 190000 votes ahead of Hjalmar Petersen. Senator Henrik Shipstead defeated Elmer Benson by over 300000 votes. GOP held seven congressional seats and won district two with Joseph P. O Hara replacing Elmer J. Ryan. Richard Buckler, Farmer Labor, was re elected.
The 12 room Foltz homestead on West Grant street between Shenango and Green streets, with 185 feet frontage and 300 feet depth, was deeded to Corporal Harry Ll. McBride Post No. 522 of the VFW in memory of Amanda Foltz Stewart. Mrs Emma Brown Renfrew and Arthur H. Brown announced the gift, to be renovated for use as a post home by the post and its auxiliary. Trustees Nowling Williams Thompson accepted the deed, and James Davis Mike Fishey and A A Jones were named to lead the home committee with immediate work planned.
New York November 7 Democrats swept the House and Senate contests, boosting the party’s House seats to 270 against 148 for Republicans with a few doubtables. Republicans won three or four Senate seats but failed to dent the Democratic majority significantly. Several ousted New Deal allies are expected to rejoin administration opposition to bipartisan coalitions. Third parties faded as two party system reasserted.
President Roosevelt arrives in Washington aboard a train from Hyde Park on a historic third term. More than 300000 greet him as police and guardsmen seal Union Station to White House route. He pledges to push national unity amid wartime world. Continued on page two.
Italian forces push toward Koritza in Albania as Evzone mountain troops yield under heavy artillery and shelling on the Epirus front. Italian coastal power along the Kalamas river opposite Corfu signals a major offensive to divert Greek troops and hasten a quick decision in the two week old war.

Secretary Morgenthau announced new taxes would be needed and asked Congress to raise the government debt limit to between 80 and 86 billion dollars. He declined to specify the total beyond June 30, 1942, noting it depends on revenues with Undersecretary Bell agreeing.

Secretary Morgenthau announced to Congress a request to raise the statutory debt limit to between 650 billion and 665 billion dollars to fund America's defense program through June 30 1942. He said this would not suffice for another year and noted the rearmament has begun after Roosevelt's third term election.
New York dispatch says a German battleship attacked two British steamers about 100 miles off Newfoundland. The 16,000 ton ships were severely damaged and put in distress after the raid, according to a German radio report picked up by NBC.
