Cartoonist Alfred Gerald Caplin known as Al Capp died at Mount Auburn Hospital after a long illness. The Li'l Abner creator, famed for Dogpatch characters, was 70. He retired two years earlier and is survived by wife Catherine, two children, and eight grandchildren.
