East Side shooting suspect surrenders after daybreak incident
Montclair Gibbs, 34, of 900 Sankey St., turned himself in to New Castle police after an early morning shooting that wounded Randy Altman, 43, of 525 Taylor St. Altman said a green vehicle fired multiple times as he neared a car outside his East Side home. Gibbs faces charges including criminal attempt at homicide and discharging a firearm.

Grease Fire Damages Shenango Township Home
A kitchen grease fire caused about 25000 dollars in damage to a Shenango Township residence at 122 Aiken Road yesterday afternoon. Firefighters from Shenango and four other departments arrived around 3 30 pm to find the inside engulfed in flames. The resident, un named, attempted to move a container of flaming grease outside as flames climbed walls and the person sustained minor hand burns. A hole was cut in the kitchen ceiling to vent smoke. smoke and water damage occurred on the lower floor with little fire damage overall. South New Castle Borough Taylor Township and Slippery Rock Township volunteer units assisted.
