The New Castle Public Library will cut its operating hours starting Monday to save 20 percent in expenses after a like 20 percent funding reduction from the state. Head librarian Susan Walls notes the move preserves value at a time of rising demand with 20 computers nearly always in use and monthly user traffic above two thousand.
New Castle's employee pension fund rebounded with a $2.62 million rise, 12.19 percent, in the three months ending Sept. 30, marking a second straight quarterly increase after five prior declines. The portfolio total reached $24,157,052, split between Huntington Private Financial Group at $12,850,342 and Ameriprise Financial at $11,306,710, with Huntington up $1,204,620 or 10.39 percent for the quarter.
