The last of five inmates who escaped Lawrence County Jail on May 13 was captured at a Poland Township home in Struthers area, Ohio, in a joint Lawrence Mahoning county operation. Gallagher, 22, waived extradition and faced return to Lawrence County.

Iraq claims six ships destroyed in Persian Gulf raids
Iraq says its armed forces destroyed six vessels in combined air and sea attacks on shipping in Iranian waters of the Persian Gulf. A military communique said targets were ablaze and naval units and planes returned safely. If verified, it would mark the largest raid in the 44 month war.

Shenango sewer plan funded by 6.2 million federal grant
A sewerage improvement project in Shenango Township and part of South New Castle Borough will receive 6.2 million dollars in federal funding.
