Riverfront Cleaners owner Lynch offered 8 000 for the property and Perry DiGiammarino offered 10 000, both reviewed by the City Redevelopment Authority. City to weigh sewer maintenance options this August
City business administrator Dennis P. Lemieux outlined a prioritized plan for sewer line fixes due to funding gaps. He described two options: the Sanitation Authority taking over maintenance or the city dissolving the authority and handling upkeep with revenues, plus consideration of an escrow fund funded by a quarterly $3 user fee from residents. Laurel school board moves to raise 4 mills for 1984 85
The Laurel School Board introduced a 3.6 million budget and adopted a 4-mill tax increase to fund next year budget of 3,629,360. The board approved adding a new mathematics position at the high school and increasing the elementary secretary to full time. Laurel Vocational Technical School budget of 2,860,994 with Laurel share around 154,000 was approved plus the Laurel Athletic Association budget of 14,210.40.

Builders, unions approve wage freeze extended contracts
The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania and 212 area building trades unions extend contracts to 1987 with no wage increases this year due to weak demand. Wage raises of 1.40 dollars an hour will be spread over 36 months, while health care benefits face staged cuts for most unions. Some locals keep fringe benefits at 1983 levels. In Lawrence County, carpenters take 60 cent raises in 1984 but no contract extension past 1985.
