Township Halts Fee Payment On Sewer Project

Township supervisors halted a payment of 2808 for the Miktehold sewer project in Warwick County. Engineer Wendell P. Ball explained that bid costs exclude easement and moving costs, while Miller of the Wresmauock Area Taxpayers League questioned moving settling tanks to Hulme property. The board discussed multiple plans from Warwick Co. and City consultants, debating scope, costs, and whether to pursue a metropolitan or separate sewer system.

Mahoning County Board Tables Bids on Stone and Road Work

The Mahoning County Board of Supervisors tabled the airard of bids for stone and road work at their first night meeting. Township secretary Anthony Veltre said bids were $175 from Moony Bros. Supply Co. and $1.65 from Carbon Limestone Co. for 1,200 tons of stone, with bids for 25,000 gallons of road tar at three-quarters of a cent per gallon from Chartes Rock and three-quarters cents from Wen and Zarlinge Bras. Supervisors will select projects funded by county liquid fuel allocations and requested state highway department approval before work can begin.

Rochester rector to be ordained as Catholic priest

James Hoge age 3 of New Castle RD 4 is admitted to Beshline Hospital after a fall on a cement floor his condition reported satisfactory. Josephine Como of Volant RD 2 is hospitalized in Grove City after a foot wound from flying tin from a lawn mower. Sharon area notes include a Notre Dame graduate scholarship awarded to Sharon-5 Domonkes Jr 21 and the death of Jacob Troyar at 687 Cedar Ave Sharon linked to a prior case involving his wife in their home. An elderly man connected with the case has been sent to Warren State Hospital for observation.

Mrs. Martha Hoagland Dies in Charlotte N C

Mrs Martha White Hoagland widow of Seth Hoagland died in Charlotte North Carolina on May 9 while visiting. A Mercer County native she lived on the Hoagland farm near Mercer then moved to Florida 85 years ago and resided in Tampa. She is survived by two daughters Elizabeth del Valle Tampa and Kathryn Raby Charlotte two grandchildren. Services and burial were held in St Petersburg on May 13. Hospital official to address NJ purchasing group

St Paul Church District Host Board Meeting Announcement

Pennsy Suffers Court Setback

The Pennsylvania Railroad lost its bid to drop five New York to Midwest passenger trains after the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court ruled the Superior Court overstepped its bounds. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh had argued to keep the service, while the PRR sought reemission from the Public Utility Commission. The court said PUC approval was needed to withdraw intrastate passenger service, impacting lines to Cincinnati and Chicago and related east-west pickups. The railroad had operated a ghost train in the interim.

Miss Cantor Buried in Private Funeral Services

Private funeral services were held yesterday for Marjorie Cantor the eldest daughter of Eddie Cantor. Miss Cantor 44 died Sunday after a two year battle with cancer kept secret from her mother Ida Cantor until seven weeks ago. The service was private in Hollywood.
