Beef Combine Will Be Brought to Terms
Albany May 17 Justice Chester sought a further order for the preliminary examination of representatives of the beef packing firms. The order, returnable May 26, was granted on Attorney General Davies’s application after deputies failed to serve subpoenas. Davies complained Colby controls the joint bank account and can fine or remit contracts, noting beef price rises were linked to earlier agreements. He argued defendants avoided process by not appearing, hindering legal action.
