In Chicago a Cook County Circuit Court judge ruled a divorced woman need not give up her own surname after remarriage. The decision follows U S Supreme Court guidance on name retention. Mrs Bandra Brode, once 34, has used the name for six years in education work with emotionally disturbed students. She divorced in 1968 and later used Jones Fowler in 1975 before deciding to keep Brode.

Savona Rail Station Opens After Long Delay

Gas refinery blast near Reynosa causes minor injuries
An explosion and fire at the government owned Pe Mex natural gas and gasoline refinery in Reynosa burned for about three hours but caused no serious injuries or deaths. About 15 workers were in the area. all escaped safety. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries. More than 16 fire departments from both sides of the Rio Grande aided in controlling the blaze. Gradimir Tasic, a Yugoslav air traffic controller, was sentenced to seven years for negligence that caused the worst in flight collision. Seven co-defendants were cleared. The Septem collision near Zagreb involved a British Airways Trident 3 and a Yugoslav InexAdnia THCY, killing 176 people including West German tourists.
