Wilbur Watt, 47, of 219 North Beaver Street, died at 3 30 this morning from burns after a gas explosion in his third floor room about 8 15 last evening. Fire officials and the coroner investigated as Watt said he smelled gas, opened a window, and the blast occurred after he turned on the electric light.

Harrisburg May 16 The $60,000,000 relief tax program moved toward enactment as Republicans and Democrats ended months of discord. The Ruth bill a five cent stamp tax on official documents passed 44 to 4 to raise 2.5 million for relief next year and the same for government purposes. A $5,000,900 yearly cigaret tax passed 36 to 12, imposing one cent per ten cigarettes. A measure increasing the utilities gross receipts tax from eight to 14 mills to raise 2 million a year was approved 42 to 6. Several senators voted against the stamp tax and cigaret tax.
