Mrs W Sapper longtime member of the SCW City Club Mahoningtown Freshy Church was honored at an early farewell party. She plans to move to Florida and make her home there. The event at Mrs J M Frew’s home featured group prayer and small gifts for Mrs Sapper, followed by lunch.
The Holy Rosary Society outlined a schedule at a business meeting on Washington Street Lucy Church Hall. Plans include a bazaar from June to June 13, reception for Rev. Musso, first mass on June 14, and participation in the Memorial Day parade. New members welcomed and Fatima statue ceremonies announced.

City police seek driver involved in a collision in the 600 block of Eu Washington Street last night. John Wagner of 601 N. Lafayette says another vehicle cut in front of him and struck his car. Wagner reports the other driver claimed to help police and then left, with police referred to local authorities.
Beamer Two Grange reel featured Beathored Matheny of Beaver Falls in a magic show with several musical numbers. Janet Stewart played a piano solo and Kathy and Eleanor bop performed a piano duet. The Sayenites also performed as Mr and Mrs James Mamison were praised for Grange hall repairs to the stage curtain. Mr and Mrs W J McCullough of St Beloraburg were seen home. Big Beaver 4-H Club met with many members present. Reverend John Gersner spoke at Betheley Church prayer service. Grange Ladies meet May 10 at 6 50 p m at Mrs Frank Jenkins home with program and luncheon.

S. Gaskey Funeral Home with interment in Geneeland Cemetery. other notices include Jessie J. Mott, 83, of 98 Ryan Ave., died after a five day confinement, survived by daughter Viva Sherman and several siblings. funeral arrangements and interment details provided. Circle meetings notes and additional memorials for George Walker and Mary Linton appear in the surrounding local notices.

Mrs. Russell Cade of Lakewood East Brook reports a series of blasts by workers renovating a small bridge along Hottenbaugh Run damaged about seven to eighteen windows in her Riverside Drive home. The third blast, around 3 pm yesterday, shattered a storm door and broke panes. Debris covered the yard as neighbors and Mrs. Cade wiped glass and rocks from the sunparl and living room while counting further possible window losses.

Miss Ann N Montot Partersy RD 1 Miss Pawine Lukas RD 5 and Miss Charlotte Werner New Galilee RN 4 join 13 others at 12 30 p m. The winner advances to the state Miss Milkmaid contest at Bedford Springs and earns a wardrobe hair styling trips to Phoenix Atlantic City for dairy queen contests.
Ellwood school board proposes raising starting wages for teachers and reviews student discipline and transportation rules. Directors discuss age 18 education requirements, extracurriculars, bus use, and corporal punishment limits while planning the 1959 60 calendar and budget.
Hubert Grinnen, 73, of Wampum Avenue Ada Niplin, was found dead at home by his housemate at 9 a.m. The deputy coroner ruled death by own action, stating he used a .22 caliber gun. He lived with his brother John in Lawrence County on June 18, 1885. Survived by two brothers and a sister, he formerly worked as a janitor at Wantpura school. The body was moved to Marshall Funeral Home in Wampum for arrangements.

Five garage windows at Margaret Coulter 917 Harrison Street were broken. Coulter said two boys aged 16 and 13 fired an air rifle from the garage. the youths deny the act and claim no air rifle ownership. Authorities note the incident as under investigation.
New Castle will host a Western Auto show for 274 owners from six states Ohio New York West Virginia Kentucky Maryland and Pennsylvania. The Buller Division Golden Anniversary Merchandize Show runs May 7 and May 18 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral featuring a full ring of Christmas togs and related merchandise. It is one of 17 such shows this month for Western Auto’s 1700 dealers nationwide.
Osteopathic physicians from Distrlel 9 of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Association met at the Elks Club Wednesday night with 23 attending from New Castle Sharon Grove City Greenville Farrell Meadville and Knox. Dr JT Bown Knox spoke as president elect after the business session. The Sons of Italy officers will meet Monday at 7 30 p.m. to plan the May 23 general meeting and discuss delegates to the Reading convent June 26 30.
