Baltimore and Ohio express No. 5 westbound between New York and Chicago was derailed one and a half miles west of Niles Ohio at 2 am. Eleven coaches left the track and eleven cars bumped the ties for about 400 feet before stopping. Six people were injured none seriously and the engine stayed on the rails preventing greater loss of life. Engineer W B Delo acted quickly to brake and assist passengers. Boy Survives Cremation Fall at City Garbage Plant
Fourteen year old Leroy Van Horn fell through a sheet iron cover into a burning garbage furnace at the plant once run by his father G H Van Horn. He suffered severe burns on arms legs and head and, unable to swim, jumped into the creek to escape. He was rescued and taken to Shenango Valley hospital where he rests today under careful observation.
