Plane crash near Wilkinsburg kills Virginia woman
An overloaded underpowered airplane crashed after takeoff from Wilkinsburg Pittsburg airport near Monroeville. The 28 year old passenger Mrs Jean Copeland died in hospital hours later. Her husband Byron Copeland 41 suffered back injuries and cuts. He is in fair condition. The couple came to visit the dead woman’s mother. The plane was an 85 horsepower single engine craft.

Grandfather Kills Daughter and Husband Then Dies
A 65-year-old grandfather shoots and kills his daughter's husband and daughter before taking his own life in a Chicago south side cottage. The victims are Elizabeth Handler, 32, Louis Handler, 63, and Stanley Novak, 65. Novak had long disparaged his daughter's marriage and had been drinking heavily. Plane crash injures two during Armed Forces Week flight
A CAP training plane with engine trouble crashed into a telephone cable on the Mt. Jackson Bessemer road Sunday afternoon about 4 30. William Tanney Jr 30 of 340 Laurel Blvd and Phyllis Fullwood 16 of 708 West Ave were treated at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Tanney suffered a concussion and head abrasions while Fullwood sustained a right arm fracture and pelvic injuries. The duo were part of a group distributing leaflets over the county for Armed Forces Week.
