Eight persons die and five injured in a shocking Sunday crash near Espyville as two speeding cars collided head on with a Pennsylvania railroad train. Clair Hays and his wife with four young sons from North Shenango perish, while William Thaines and a son from Albion are also among the dead. The incident unfolds on a Pennsylvania road near the rail crossing, with the wreckage involved a passenger train and multiple fatalities reported.
A motorboat overturn on Moosehead Lake near Sandbar Island sinks nine prominent Brockton Mass residents including Sheriff Wake of Plymouth County. One man survives and Chief Daley of Brockton fire department is rescued. Boots head out to drag for bodies.

Bayport May 34 A deputy sheriff uncovered an unusual murder plot involving Mrs. Frederick Austin and her alleged lover Arthur Abadore. A truck driver who spoke with the couple betrayed their plan to kill Austin for a gunman and an insurance payout. The pair, held in Riverhead jail, faced charges as preparations allegedly included a second killing. Austin suspects an affair. Abadore is blamed for the scheme.
Investigators pursue theory that Dave Lewis, famed auto racer, was killed for robbery and his body found near a ranch in San Francisquito Canyon with a revolver beside him as a brush fire burned nearby. Relatives say no motive for suicide, Lewis had planned to attend speedway events in Indianapolis.

Tyrrell, 53, a Sunday school superintendent, may plead self defense. Clark’s estranged wife Hazel Clark is to be questioned. authorities seek details of alleged alienation of affections and home disruption.
In Harrisburg and Philadelphia reports outline a Pennsylvanian Guard honor unit forming into a provisional company under Major Leonard L. Deininger, to sail from Hoboken May 19 for dedication ceremonies in France. Three Pennsylvania memorials will be honored May 29 30 and June 7 with expenses covered by the Pennsylvania Battle Monument Commission.
