Rear Admiral Mark Lambert Bristol former commander in chief of the U S Navy Asiatic squadron and U S high commissioner to Turkey died today at a naval hospital in Washington. He was 71 and retired in 1932.

Wealthy publisher George Palmer Putnam husband of the late Amelia Earhart was found bound and gagged in a vacant Bakersfield area house five miles south of the city.
