Crowds cheered as George and Elizabeth rode through bannered streets after the coronation ceremony. Rain slowed the royal procession, delaying the route through Parliament Square Trafalgar Square and Pall Mall, with the king and queen presenting a regal image despite the downpour.
King George VI and Queen Elizabeth crowned in Westminster Abbey in a ceremony witnessed by 7,700 peers clergy and foreign dignitaries. William R. Nickle of Pittsburgh reported at 3 a m his car failed to negotiate a turn on Butler avenue near the Genkinger residence and struck a pole, breaking it. William B. Graham of Detroit said at 3 10 a m he lost control on the State street hill while hauling two new cars, damaging a lawn, a tree, and the home of Sam McBride at 1218 West State street. Carl R. Madison of North Front street reported an accident at Grant and North Jefferson streets yesterday when a truck was rear ended by an unknown auto.
Gus Dassias of 1602 Delaware avenue returned home Tuesday after a 16 month visit with relatives in Greece and traveled back to his residence.
After an investigation, Anthony Naples was charged with murder for shooting 12 year old Robert McDowell in Harris. Police officials say Naples claimed he fired because McDowell had hit him and he thought the bullet was a blank. Both boys attended Pollock school.
The Thayer Company sues Lawrence County seeking additional pay for courthouse planning work. Jurors hear claim after 90 percent of work done and a $24,000 share disputed. verdict expected this afternoon.
