The New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. noted unprecedented damage to communications in Maine versus prior years.

Harlansburg High starts the county’s commencement season with six graduates receiving diplomas May 18 at Harlansburg Presbyterian Church. Baccalaureate for the class is May 13 with Rev. J. Calvin Rose as speaker. Ellwood City’s graduation is May 22 with a May 15 dinner and May 18 assembly, baccalaureate May 20. Other schools set May dates. Wampum tops May 25 with 39 diplomas and a May 22 class night.
