The 12th annual convention of Girl Scout executives gathers in The Castleton with about 150 delegates from Pennsylvania, Delaware, D C, Maryland and Virginia. Registration runs since 9 am Eastern with badges issued, room assignments made, and exhibits set to showcase Scout work and materials.
Miss Nance Pugh, longtime director of New Castle Girl Scout troops, acts as hostess with the New Castle Scout council for the three day regional convention. She coordinated with the regional director to plan an outstanding event attracting over 150 Girl Scout leaders and councillors.

Police hunt a 17 year old farmhand after the bodies of Edward Thoman 51 and wife 50 are found in a southeast Canton farm house closet. The measure, supported by 33 civic organizations, would reform general municipal and primary election laws and shift control of election machinery to county election boards. Sunday baseball also draws attention as the Senate continues work on Fair Rate Board bills.

Mrs. W W Wallace and her son Robert, 19, were seriously hurt Saturday when their car hit a telephone pole on State Street near Grant Street. They were taken to Jameson Memorial hospital with Mrs Wallace suffering fractured knee caps and other injuries while Robert endured a severe eye wound and windshield glass injuries. Virginia and Walter Wallace escaped with bruises.
The Wampum plant of Crescent Portland Cement in Wampum will unveil a cast stone safety trophy Friday afternoon at the mill office. The trophy, designed by the Art Institute of Chicago, honors a full calendar year 1930 without a lost time accident, the last one having occurred July 29, 1929. Hon. George T. Weingartner will give the principal address at 2 p.m., with Cement officials from Medusa Portland Cement Company also attending.
New York police arrested five men linked to seven bank robberies totaling over 188000 dollars. The group operated with a pince-nez visitor pattern, targeting Manchester Bank in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia City National Bank among others. Suspects named Robert Maple 41 James Foley Sam Ruben Barney Niefield and Joseph F Flynn were taken into custody after detectives traced notes and travel from banks to nightclubs and race tracks.

Six members of the Collins family are dead after a Fort Worth and Denver passenger train crashed into their automobile near Alvord Texas. Charles Collins 30 Nora Lee Collins 23 Charlene 5 Fannie Collins 65 Florine 17 Cecil Ferguson 19 were killed as the car was carried 200 feet along the tracks.
In Punxsutawney Pennsylvania Harry Slack a 35 year old father of five was fatally shot when Thomas H Hopkins 39 a rejected suitor shot at Carrie Henry the widow Hopkins had pursued. Slack intervened and was killed by a bullet meant for Henry according to his signed police confession.

An International News Service tally shows five killed and 37 injured in Pennsylvania traffic crashes over the weekend. Western Pennsylvania led with three deaths, Eastern with two, and the central region reported no fatalities though 16 were hurt.
