Nazarene convention fills Cathedral area with cars

Large Nazarene convention sessions at the Cathedral drew a huge crowd and heavy street parking across blocks around the church. One Killed And Six Injured In Highway Crash Near Edenburg

James Scopacasa of Lowellville died after his car left the road and struck a tree on the highway to Union Limestone quarry near Edenburg. Six others were injured, two critically, as emergency crews rushed to the scene Saturday evening. Scopacasa died at Jameson Memorial Hospital early Sunday.

Mother of Seven Fatally Burned in Home Explosion

Mrs. Frank Nicolazzo aged 34, mother of seven, died of burns in Kane community hospital after a gas explosion in her 10 room house. The blast shattered windows and neighbors helped rescue the children. Coroner W. D. Allen of Bradford investigates the fire.

Coronation Week Opens With Royal Rehearsal at Westminster

King George and Queen Elizabeth led a coronation rehearsal as crowds watched from Westminster Abbey. Dukes Kent and Gloucester and the Archbishop of Canterbury joined the procession in robes while crown jewels remained absent, the regalia carried on cushions for Wednesday’s ceremony. Intermittent drizzle shaded the scene as visitors gathered for the event.

Parking Meter System To Be Tried In City

City council approved a trial parking meter system with no city cost. The winning company will install and run the meters, receiving 15 percent of receipts while 85 percent goes toward equipment costs. after repayment the city will own the system as it helps solve parking. The plan cites similar successes in Cleveland and New York.

New Castle mixed chorus tied for first with Youngstown in a Welsh language competition at Warren Ohio's eisteddfod. The male chorus earned second prize. Butler Boy Killed by Bus in Butler Pennsylvania

An eight year old named Eugene Martin from Starr Route near Butler was crushed to death when a school bus backed over him at a Route 42 service station three miles west of Butler. His father C E Martin works as a foreman at Fretz Moon Tube Company in East Butler.
