Moscow declares Victory Day as Nazi capitulation becomes official. Stalin proclaims end of hostilities with Germany at 11 01 pm, while Keitel signs surrender to Zhukov. Churchill, Tedder, Spaatz, and De Lattre De Tassigny participate in allied ceremony marking end of World War II in Europe.

London report says German troops attack airmen who escaped from prison camps in Czechoslovakia. British and American escapees are sheltered by Czechs, and Germans are shooting on sight anyone found hiding a former Allied prisoner of war.
