Fort Worth Texas May 3 Flooding from a Trinity River cloudburst submerged blocks of houses and halted streetcar traffic while a pumping plant failed. A railroad worker drowned near Cleburne 28 miles south and a Mexican woman was killed at Thurber 50 miles west.

Paris May 9 A blaze at the casing theatre in Paris damaged the building and destroyed Pearl White’s wardrobe. The fire started in the dressing room and reached the stage forcing postponement of further performances for weeks. Pittsburgh May 9 C L Glass a leading stock broker and W O Craig president of Louisiana Mutual Oil Corporation Shreveport La were indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of using the mails in a scheme to defraud and conspiracy The indictment says they induced investors including L A Kline Brookville Pa Alex Russell Canton Ohio Mrs Mary Gray Chester Pa and others to buy stock by false representations It alleges Glass fixed prices and earned unearned profits in selling the stock and that actions were part of a larger fraud plan The case was prepared for bench warrants and awaits further federal action
A gasoline boiler room explosion at Sinclair Rooney and Company wholesale millinery in Buffalo kills William Price and John Stuber and wounds three others. The dead are Price and Stuber. Injured are Robert J. Hill John Bush and George Muir all listed in serious or critical condition.
