In Mount Pleasant Tennessee Charles Wright a striking L N employee was found shot to death near George Leighty the union negotiating committee chair as talks in Washington collapsed. Four non striking railroad workers were arrested in connection with the incident.

Secretary of State John Foster Dulles scheduled to depart for Paris to join Western Allies in Big Four talks with Russia and discuss Formosa ceasefire Indochina, and West Germany’s NATO admission. Also summoned were Defense Secretary Charles E. Wilson Undersecretary Herbert Hoover Jr and Adm Arthur W Radford. Dulles may proceed to Vienna after Paris.
