Turnpike Case Is Continued Injunction Hearing
Testimony was taken this morning before Judge W Walter Braham in the Turnpike injunction suit but no decision was reached. The hearing was continued to Thursday morning May 10 to hear Turnpike Commission Chief Counsel Harry Crowl Pepper. Judge Braham ordered no contractor work on Township Route 856 between now and then.

Man Fatally Injured by Auto Near New Castle
Alex Johnson 67 of 1314 Pennsylvania avenue died at 3 40 a m after being struck by a car driven by John William Foreman 25 of Orlando avenue R D 3 just outside the city on East Washington street. Foreman said he could not avoid the pedestrian walking on the highway while traveling north on East Washington street extension toward Cascade park. Johnson died at Jameson Memorial hospital from skull fracture and leg injuries. Foreman was released on his own recognizance. He was born May 1 1885 and had lived in New Castle 40 years. Survived by wife Olga Kantonen Johnson and four children Mrs Edward Hilton Mrs Jack Warneck Mrs George Eve and Arthur Johnson all of this city and a sister Mrs John Kivioja of Ashland Ohio and eight grandchildren. Funeral Monday at 2 30 p m at John R Bigler funeral home burial in Graceland cemetery. Friends may call tonight 7 to 9 and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
