Porter Five-Time City Controller Expert Dies at 75
Alvah Luther Porter aged 75 five times the choice of citizens as city controller and former Lawrence county district attorney died Tuesday at his home 716 Young Street after a one day illness from heart trouble. Born in New Bedford Pennsylvania he was admitted to the bar around 1884 and practiced law about 44 years. He served one term as district attorney and was a highly respected Republican figure in New Castle and the city’s third class.
