In 1933 county commissioners A. E. Conner P. O. Elder and F. R. Wood proposed a new courthouse at 768000 dollars but were blocked by a court barrier. Modern estimates from Thayer Co. put the 1933 design at 2725000 dollars with costs rising next year.

Tanker Explodes Kills or Missing Sixty in Venezuela
A 17 598 ton Panamanian tanker Mobi Astral exploded at the Mene Grande Oil pier in La Cruz Venezuela after loading 200 000 barrels of oil. IMAC says 60 dead or missing and 5 injured. Minister Wins In Fight To Aid Forty Families
New York clergyman Rev. John R. Purnell cut gas and electric meters to restore heat and light for 40 families and 100 children in a tenement after unpaid bills led Consolidated Edison to padlock the meters. Warrants were issued for the building owners for $2,000 in unpaid utility bills. Purnell said higher moral laws justified his action and planned another disruption if needed. The utility later re cut power, leaving gas on.

Human Error Kills Three Babies in Massachusetts Hospital
In Fall River Massachusetts officials said a hospital error caused three infant deaths at Truesdale Hospital from boric acid solution used instead of distilled water in formula. Six infants were affected two recovered while the other two were not identified by name. An inquest in Wendover England was cancelled when pathologists ruled a skeleton unearthed was about 500 years old.

Mother Saves Three Children From Bedroom Fire
A mother carried her three children to safety as a fire broke out in their second story bedroom at 518 Long Ave. Fire officials say spontaneous combustion started in a bedroom closet and damaged the two story home owned by Fred Jacobs.
