An unidentified well dressed woman, age 30 to 35, was shot and killed on the main driveway to Cedarbrooke Country Club near Philadelphia. Killers fled into darkness. body found by a club member near the ninth tee area. The incident occurred as socially elite members were inside the clubhouse. Continued on Page Two.
In Milford Pennsylvania on March 25 rumors spread that Governor Gifford Pinchot was tutoring in Russian for a possible ambassadorship to Moscow. An indirect denial followed at Pinchot’s home with his wife Cornelia Bryce Pinchot denying any language training and stating he is happy as governor of Pennsylvania.
Charles A. Dickson was restrained within about thirty minutes after holding up P. H. Butler Company Store manager Charles Polen Sr. and his son at 1027 Croton Avenue. Dickson pleaded guilty to the hold up in Mayor Mayne’s court.

Ambridge Pennsylvania report of 73 year old Harry Phorank who stumbled over a chair at his home, suffering three broken ribs and a punctured lung. His widow survives.
Berlin reports Captain Hermann Goering told American correspondents that no German was persecuted for being Jewish and rejected abroad claims of Nazi terror. He echoed yesterday’s denial from Hitler’s spokesman who called anti German propaganda slander and said reports of atrocities have no basis in fact.

State highway department workers ash the slip prone hills on main arteries. If the snow continues plows may be pressed into service to clear roads though more snow is needed. Many minor accidents were reported from skidding on slippery hillsides.
Street employes of the city department of streets ash ed hills today to ease ascent and descent for automobiles. Snow caused some vehicles to skid on North Jefferson street hill and others struggled on the slippery grade. Ashes were placed before noon on that and other hills.
Elmer Harlan of Princeton is in serious condition at Jameson Memorial Hospital after a vicious bull unchained in his father’s barn charged him. He was rammed by the animal, hurled to the ground, and crawled to the barn yard where physicians battle to save his life.

Fire caused about 500 dollars in damage at the Brinton Apartment building on East Washington street Friday around 6 30. The fire started in the second floor apartment of Mr and Mrs Donald Gillespie and threatened the first floor occupied by Mr and Mrs John Brinton.
Police identified a beaten man found in the Ohio River three miles from Wellsburg West Virginia. A Brooklyn notebook bearing the name Mr Harris 6830 Wabash Pittsburgh offered the only lead. The victim, about five nine with black hair wore a brown suit and black shoes and had been in the water nearly a week.
State Senator Herman P. Brandt of Perryville received a midnight threat to his life after he opposed modifying Pennsylvania blue laws. County detectives guarded him as he traced the call to a drug store pay station. the caller claimed to be from Chicago and vowed to blow him up.

The 14,187 ton steamship President Madison capsized at a Seattle pier. Two crewmen, Carl Eckberg, 40, and Jack Rose, 60, died while 150 men escaped before sinking. Watchman John Hansen, 68, was rescued after five hours submerged. Damages estimated at 250000 dollars. Chinese crew escaped through portholes after the sinking.
