First Commonwealth Bank to take over Affordable Housing of Lawrence County assets as the nonprofit plans to default on two mortgages. Executive director Robert Evanick, former Affordable Housing chairman, acknowledges shock at the development and notes his 2005 purchase of eight county properties for $340,000. He resigned in December after signing loan papers for seven New Castle properties amid an ongoing exit of leadership.
The $5 million UPMC Jameson Cancer Center at 2602 Wilmington Road opens with 10 staff, offering Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy and access to clinical trials.
