In a Thursday meeting at City Hall stockholders of the closed Trust Co. harshly criticized mismanagement and urged a thorough investigation. They favored appointing an out of town permanent receiver to safeguard the institution and its financial interests.
Stockholders of the New Castle Savings and Trust company call for a non resident permanent receiver amid alleged director mishandling and losses. A committee will probe for stockholders and potential crookedness with criminal action possible if found.
A special investigation committee plans to examine if New Castle Savings and Trust directors rated Washington County coal bonds as adequate security for trust funds. The inquiry will review loaning of widows and orphans funds, access limits, and whether large stockholders paid for shares with cash or notes and if notes are collectible under a permanent receiver.
Dr William B Irish a prominent Pittsburg physician died at his home 6906 Penn ave Point Breeze after a brief pneumonia illness. Born Sept 25 1870 in the city he was 36. He leaves his mother Mrs Linda Jack Irish a brother Franklin C Irish and sister Charlotta D Irish along with wide community mourners. He practiced in Pittsborg for ten years and was active in Masonic bodies and the Presbyterian church.
I. G. Lane of Pittsburg former division engineer for the Baltimore and Ohio in this city was seriously injured Thursday by a fall from a work train near Pittsburg. He is well known among local railroad men.
Mrs. William Miles of the Fisher block on East Long avenue suffered a fall Friday morning and is confined with two broken ribs on her left side. She remains in considerable pain from the accident.
A school committee, still to report to the school board, is expected to exonerate Miss Gertrude Smith and the 17 year old son of Frank Hill in the Highland avenue school trouble. The report will recommend transferring Hill to the Martin Gantz building and states his conduct did not merit suspension.
Paul Griffith aged 22 son of ex Councillman I B Griffith of West Washington street contracted diphtheria while working in Sharon. He grew worse, was taken home, examined by a physician who diagnosed diphtheria. The Griffith home is quarantined. this is the first local case in the past week.
The Rev J S Marin pastor of the Reformed Presbyterian church will be one of the speakers at the Good Citizenship conventions in Winona Lake Indiana from August 12 to 17.
Death notice lists Mrs Mary Ann Nelson aged 44 of 39 Fulton street and mentions B F Gregory of Selins Grove Pa Dr William Irish 36 Pittsburg Joseph Augiston 45 Moravia street and Lee Mateer 75 of Rochester among listed deceased or referenced individuals in the record.
B F Gregory aged nearly 79, longtime teller at the National Bank of Selins Grove, died after a brief illness at his home in Selins Grove. He is survived by wife Hannah and two sons H K Gregory of Wallace Avenue and Forrest Williamsport. Funeral details not yet received.
Contracts for the erection of the tin can factory have not yet been let and will be awarded in a couple of weeks if bids satisfy the company. The plant may be fireproof and replace earlier plans for stone and brick. A company representative is due in New Castle to decide on construction methods.

He fell ill two or three days before death, was paid last, and died suddenly while staying at 515 Mora Avenue.
The heavy work car called the Monitor collided with an inbound Cascade park passenger car beside the baseball park grandstand. Motorman, distracted by something on the floor, did not react in time, bystanders warned him to slow, and both cars sustained minor damage.
