Downtown sniper terror ends in surrender after five hour siege
A booze fueled sniper named Robert Frank Swokla terrorized Phoenix downtown from a fifth floor parking garage, wounding a policeman and firing toward bystanders while diners watched. After five hours he surrendered to police with negotiators and a wounded officer hospitalized in good condition. Swokla, 23, had earlier seized a security guard’s handgun and fired several shots as he demanded a confrontation with officers.

New car theft tool found by City police in Riverside sighting
Pittsburgh area juveniles attempted to steal a car at Riverside Apartments parking lot before one surrendered details. Police recovered an 18 inch tool with a self threading screw and pumping device used to ignite and rip out ignition. Lieutenant Malley noted it is the first of its kind found in New Castle.
