Bomb warning issued before Pan Am 103 disaster
London based Pan Am World Airways and British officials disclosed a December warning about a possible terrorist attack that arrived after the Lockerbie bombing. The warning cited a radio cassette player packed with Semtex found by West German police, while Pan Am 103 exploded over Lockerbie killing 270 aboard and 11 on the ground. The incident followed an earlier Transport Department alert to British airlines on November 22. A Labour MP accused the government of a coverup as details emerged.
