A public meeting on energy policy will be held Tuesday at Drexel University in Philadelphia as part of a national series. Joseph LaSala of the Federal Energy Administration will solicit first come, first served input from residents of Pennsylvania Delaware Maryland West Virginia Virginia and the District of Columbia. Topics include energy conservation foreign oil dependence development of energy sources and federal regulation and consumer protection. The event is one of ten nationwide ahead of President s planned energy policy announcement by April 20.

Alaska pipeline finds 500000 artifacts dating 10500 years
A team of scientists studying the Alaska pipeline path uncovered over half a million artifacts dating up to 10,500 years. Finds include scrapers, microblades, projectile points, tools, animal remains and dwelling ruins. The researchers suggest nomadic early Alaska inhabitants followed caribou and fish, with artifacts like ancient whalebone sled runners and copper indicating a mobile lifestyle. Seventy six archaeologists surveyed more than 300 sites along the 201 mile route.

UMW Candidate Backing Strikes In Cambria Indiana Areas

Washington report from the Bureau of Mines shows energy use grew 4.8 percent last year reversing a two-year decline. Susquehanna threat ebbs in northeastern Pennsylvania

New K mart to Open in New Castle This Thursday
The 71,657 square foot K mart in Lawrence Village Plaza will open to the public at 10 am Thursday, with Manager Harry E Marsh stating its opening, the expansion brings Pennsylvania K marts to 56.
