Woman Killed by Freight Train at West Pittsburg
Mrs Florence Pisot aged wife of John Pisot of West Pittsburg was instantly killed when she stepped in front of a Pittsburgh and Lake Erie freight engine near tracks at West Pittsburg about 10 o'clock last night. She had returned from a neighbor’s and waited for a passing train to cross the first track, then stepped onto a second track behind a caboose and was struck by an oncoming engine. The crash fractured the back of her skull. Born in Hungary she had lived in West Pittsburg for some time. Her husband and five children survive.

Harrisburg March 2 The motor license fund of the state received 278820.47 from motorists in Lawrence county last year. Figures from the bureau of motor vehicles show county totals exclude the two cent gasoline tax. State totals for 1928 stand at 41 780 158 with Lawrence County contributing part of the sum. Passenger cars licensed in Lawrence County reached 17118 while the state total was higher. Two years earlier the county had 15934 licenses. In 1926 the state licensed 1 86 086 motor vehicles. of these 20 850 were in Lawrence County. The county had 1176 motor vehicles new and they paid 6 into the fund 47 70291 in all fees. There were 108 motorcycles proposed during the year and Gard Square contributed to 447.
