Large numbers of men from local churches will conduct a visitation campaign on Sunday as part of the annual every member canvass for Presbyterian congregations and other denominations. Pledges for the year's budget are collected from all members at this time. The item notes additional local news and a sighting of an old coin from 1663 found by a Castle Stationery figure.

Secretary Kellogg announced Washington will ask Mexico for indemnity after two Americans were killed by stray border fire during the Juarez battle. State Department has not yet received a full report on the incident. Kellogg said representations would follow once facts are known. A Mazatlan dispatch says Mexican federal troops increased at Mazatlan and La Cruz, with Cardenas en route.
President Hoover plans a five to six member fact finding commission to audit the federal justice system. The group will have legal legislative experience and at least one woman if qualified, with a doctor among members to examine narcotics law abuses, prohibition, immigration, trade restraints and related statutes. The process will take about 39 days before appointments.
Albert Hills of 23752 Fairmort avenue reports he was driving south on Mill Street near Washington Street when a small girl ran into the rear of his Ellis car. The girl rose and fled, leaving no name or address, and appeared uninjured.
Dr. GW Davis of the seventh ward is nursing a badly injured hand after his fingers were badly cut when his hand was drawn against an operating electric saw during work.
The proclamation designates March 16 1929 as Business Women's Week for New Castle Pennsylvania. It cites the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs slogan Better Business Women for a Better Business World and credits the federation with advancing education vacation facilities and business ethics for 52 000 members and 8 500 000 women nationwide. Mayor W A Gillespie signs the proclamation.
A Croton Avenue home owned by George M Gibson suffered major interior damage after a gas meter leak fed a fire at about 1 35 this morning. The family and two children escaped in night clothing via a rear stairway as firefighters battled the blaze until gas could be shut off. The loss is estimated at 3300 and was insured.
Miss Mary Horvath of Harrisburg confessed to police that the note threatening the eyes of four officers who shot Patrick McDonald during a hotel robbery attempt was faked. She said hunger for a thrill led her to write and deliver the letter, previously claimed to be given by two men in a car with New York plates. McDonald, wanted in Irvington for killing a policeman, was killed in the attempted robbery at the Dauphin hotel. His body to be buried in East Harrisburg cemetery without services.
