Birmingham wire reports a humorous Will Rogers quip mimicking Patrick Henry on Liberty Bonds. Rogers claims a politician boasted of funds, then returned some, then hid more, sending the rest to Democrats as a joke about unreturned money.
Dieudonne Costes and Joseph Lebrix, French four country fliers, were forced to land at Sharon Pennsylvania due to near blizzard conditions. They planned a Detroit hop today in the Nun gesser Colt but motor start attempts failed. If another attempt falters they may stay over weekend.
Mrs Evangeline Lodge Lindbergh mother of Col Charles A Lindbergh and four companions departed East Boston airport at 8 04 am for Detroit. Lieut Albert J Hegenberger piloted with Lieut Harry A Johnson Maude Davidson and Major Cooper aboard. The party had traveled from Detroit to Boston for a National Education Association convention and Boston baked beans were carried aboard for Detroit service.

Representative John M. Morin of Pennsylvania said he would not run in the Republican senatorial primary against Senator David Reed. Morin cited party unity and a desire to avoid a disruptive intra party contest.
At Naval Station Lakehurst New Jersey the Navy airship Los Angeles was guided into its hangar at 7:05 this morning after an all night struggle with gusty winds. Four ground crewmen narrowly escaped as cables snapped but all were uninjured. Commander Rosendahl praised man power and noted hopes for future mechanical ground handling devices.
At about 8 am a car skidded on ice on the Butler New Castle highway, jumped a ditch, and hit a tree in front of the English home. A M Billick 53 of Cleveland sustaining severe facial injuries and unconsciousness. Mrs Billick slight injuries and able to move about. The couple were enroute when the crash occurred.
Fire at ornate Riverside Drive residence damages property valued at 200000. Mrs Forhan 57 and her daughter Rea rescued after being forced to flee in night attire. Two maids on the roof of the adjacent home were saved. Oriental art treasures reportedly destroyed. Dr R J Forhan linked to toothpaste founder family. he was said to be in California.
Guisseppi di Donato to face a hearing at 2 30 this afternoon before Alderman Waiter T Hamilton on charges of transporting and possessing intoxicating liquor after being captured Friday morning by Motorcycle Officer Criswell with 45 gallons of liquor in his possession.
In Irvington New Jersey a seven year old girl described a stranger forcing into her mother Filipina Ferrenzia 33 in an unlighted bedroom. Ferrenzia fled to the porch where she was shot three times with the infant in her arms. Neighbors found the body as detectives questioned the husband in Newark.
New York officials, led by Mayor James J. Walker, prepared to present arbitration terms to Frank Hedley of the Interborough Rapid Transit company. The plan, overseen by the mayor or transit commission, would investigate charges against 21 Amalgamated members and set a Tuesday 6 pm decision deadline. If accepted, the walkout is avoided. if rejected, 15,000 subway and elevated workers face a strike.
State and government inspectors will probe deaths of George McIlhose of Marietta and George Lipman of Wheeling along with injury to Captain George Beegle after the main steam line exploded on the River Packet Senator Cordell at the Ohio Kanawha junction. The boat, said to be the largest on the upper Ohio, was badly damaged and several deck-hands were injured or scalded.
W. J. Burnett age 58 confessed to striking his wife Rosabelle Burnett 46 with a heavy claw hammer after she cursed him The blow caused a fractured skull and she died at Bradford hospital Burnett said he was not sorry as she struck him first authorities reported
Special agents from the prohibition enforcement bureau will be dispatched to the Western Pennsylvania coal fields to investigate liquor law enforcement conditions. Prohibition commissioner Doran announced that the campaign will target retailers and close retail speakeasies, after prior focus on wholesalers by administrator John Pennington.

Warmer Sunday night and by midweek, colder by Thursday. Ohio Valley sees rain Monday with snow flurries north and rain or snow Thursday and Friday, much colder by week end. Great Lakes region stays rather cold with possible snow and periodic precipitation through the week.
Honorable slums J. Davis secretary of labor in the cabinet of President Calwin Coolidge is a guest of the Women’s Welsh Club. He will speak this afternoon at the St David’s banquet in the Scottish Rite Cathedral. Davis arrived in New Castle at 12 30 pm and was met by a reception committee led by President David Pyle of the Chamber of Commerce and Rachel Reynolds of the Women’s Welsh Club.
