Army officers opened an investigation into the Marysville crash that fatally injured 25 year old cadet Joseph F. Feaganes of Selfridge Field Michigan. Witnesses said the pursuit plane veered to the ground and struck with such force the motor was torn loose and hurled 300 yards. Feaganes, from Wytheville Virginia, died from crushed injuries after being pulled from the wreckage by John Thiergarten and a farm employee.
Philadelphia June 29 Mayor Davis Wilson estimated about 100000 visitors spent an average of 100 dollars each during the Democratic National convention. He tallied three records: largest national convention since repeal, largest political gathering with 110000 hearing Roosevelt in Franklin Field, and largest free show with nearly one million at Thursday night Mardi Gras.
Death records show Jesse Newton Robinson age 1 day of Slippery Rock and others including R. D. Jean Marie Lesher aged 11 at 729 Pearl Street plus Newton A. Smith 52 of Sharon and Mrs. Allen Wood Smith of New Wilmington. Edgar C. Porter 78 of Ellwood City and Earl W. McCandless 38 of Knox Plan Ellwood City and Mrs. Ralph Wiley 39 of McKeesport.

Florence Thompson Castle a 26 year old woman is killed in her Devonshire Hotel room in Chicago. Her seven year old son awoke to the beating and witnessed the attack as a brick was used against her head. The assailant scrawled This is black legion in lipstick on the mirror.
The state department expresses worry over Japanese occupation in Peiping as American nationals endure mistreatment and threats. Incidents include a bayonet shove to Capt. H. S. Jernigan and a saber threat to an American woman near the embassy.
Warren Guthrie fourteen, of Jackson Center, is in serious condition at Mercer Cottage Hospital after a 22 calibre rifle discharged during a tin can shoot. Playmate John McCall of Butler was loading the rifle when the accident occurred during a groundhog hunt.

In Clarion Pennsylvania on June 29 two youths Dean Brinker age 16 and his brother Albert 18 drowned when their sailboat capsized in 45 feet of water. Companion Paul Small 17 described how both brothers clung to the boat before Dean let go and Albert tried to save him before they both disappeared.
A Pennsylvania tagged car, E4189, ran onto a loading ramp in the P L E yards on East Washington street around 12:30 am Saturday. The vehicle wedged against the tracks at a 95 degree angle after failing to land on a flatcar. The driver fled, returned with a wrecker in daylight, and a crowd gathered to watch the removal.

Inez Del Rio a 17 year old 21 inch dancer from Madrid, fell four feet from a stage at the Great Lakes Expedition injuring her skull. Doctors say her condition is serious but not alarming and that her chances for recovery are good at a Cleveland hospital.
County Commissioners Geo Bolinger and Floyd Cotton, State Highway Superintendent John Shaw, and Attorney William E. McElwee Jr. departed for Harrisburg to push for better roads in New Castle. The program, once outlined in the Spring, appears abandoned unless they can reinstate it.
