A new Princeton Camp Sons of Veterans was organized by Attorney William Stevenson last night in the town hall with 40 to 50 members. Stevenson praised Slipperyrock township’s wartime service and named officers including Commander John C. A. Stevenson and Secretary John Sechler as the group prepares to join the state organization.
The Italian Ministerial association of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio will hold its monthly meeting in this city next Monday July 1 at the Italian M E church. Rev N A Sabbarese is pastor. Ministers will visit Cascade Park in the morning and hold the regular meeting in the afternoon followed by supper. An evening mass meeting will conclude the program with all ministers taking part. All pastors and mission friends are invited.
Allentown widow Mrs. Lillian Green is jailed in Mauch Chunk while coroner Dr Bray suspects poisoning in the death of her husband who died after a meal she prepared. The stomach sample was sent to Lafayette College for analysis as investigators review the case.
Four boys, oldest 9, were found at a brass foundry late at night likely stealing brass. Police were called but the chief deemed them not fully responsible and warned them, releasing them.
Judge William Porter, back from the Baltimore Democratic convention, predicts Champ Clark will not be nominated for president. Clark leads in votes now but Porter expects a turn, noting Bryan’s recent actions hurt Clark’s prospects.

At a hearing before Judge Porter residents of Edenburg argue against a proposed school north of town citing danger for children crossing railroad tracks and the Mahoning river. Petitioners claim an independent district is needed to avoid unsafe routes while officials defend the plan.

Miller son of Prof S H Miller of Greenville and former principal of New Castle high school recently graduated from State College ranking second in a class of 275 has been placed in charge of the laboratory in Port Arthur Texas owned by Standard Oil He will leave for New York early next week and then travel by boat to Port Arthur
The sanitary committee of councils held a short session last night and considered measures to aid the health department. A resolution to transfer 3000 dollars was tabled, while another similar action is pending in councils.
A successful operation was performed on J. M. McMillin for a carbuncle on the back of his neck. He is very weak but the attending doctors believe he will recover at Shenango Valley hospital.
Mrs Sara Kerchoff and her granddaughter Miss Mamie Alford of East Washington street depart for an extended tour visiting Philadelphia Reading and other eastern cities.
In Baltimore on June 29 after fourteen ballots at the Democratic national convention William Jennings Bryan declared he and Nebraska progressives would not support Champ Clark if New York boss Charles F Murphy could deliver Clark’s nomination. He critiqued Murphy’s influence and contrasted Clark with a genuine progressive path. The scene amid heat and crowded galleries reflected a tense, drama-filled session.

James Antoshka 35 employed at Republic Rubber Plant died after being scalded in a Turkish bath parlor on East Federal Street. An attendant, a mute, signaled users and left Antoshka alone in a room. later the attendant found him under a cascade of hot water and notified help. He died at City Hospital several hours later.
Harry Payne admitted stealing a small bank belonging to the children of Mrs. Sarah Cade of Eastbrook. He told Alderman Ranney he still had $8 of the $16.90 and turned it over. He was held for court likely to plead nolle contendere.

Merchants visiting the city treasurer to pay mercantile tax are turned away as no mercantile tax can be received. A mayoral appointment deadlock prevents a mercantile assessor from starting work and mercantile assessments have not begun, promising unusual complications and trouble from the delay.

A continued hearing before the board of viewers in the Henry Weinschenk versus Western Allegheny Railroad case occurred this morning. Weinschenk seeks about 8000 dollars for land taken by the railroad. Viewers are H. A. Wilkison J. A. B. Walker and J. H. Porter.
Rappaelo Spagnolo of Hoytdale died Friday evening after a weeklong illness. He was 44 and worked as a stone cutter. His wife and five children survive. The funeral will be Sunday at 1 PM in Hoytdale Catholic church.
The ball club of New Castle lodge No. 404 K of P, managed by J J Dean, will play against the Baptist church club on the Third United Presbyterian grounds next Wednesday evening.
Insurance figures show 1911 distributions totaling 592 640 000 with 401 140 000 paid in the United States The largest payout occurred in New Orleans Frank T Howard held life insurance of 720 288 at death Edward Foerderer of Philadelphia had a 350 000 policy William J Carlin of Pittsburg received 137 815 and a 100 000 policy was held by William S McKinney Also noted are Sharon payments to Simon Perkins 58 920 and John J Spearman 13 943 Le Roy W Heath 15 009 and William R McKee 19 845 from Mercer and New Castle respectively.

Mrs Muirhead, now in Boston, reports the death of her sister that occurred Thursday. Funeral services are held today. She notes a recent spate of losses in her family, including her mother and brother.
Judge Porter appoints Dr Samuel W Perry and Attorneys A L Porter and J P Caldwell to form a lunacy commission to examine Charles Russell in the county jail. The inquiry is expected to take place this evening.
Boss Murphy of Tammany becomes central in a muddled Democratic scene as the 12th ballot tally reveals Wilson and Underwood split endorsements across states. The roll call totals show Clark leading with 547 votes and Wilson 354, with Harmon Underwood and others also polling.
Over $8,000 has been paid to the city treasurer this week by the American Sheet and Tin Plate company as its share of city taxes on the two large tin plate mills. Most other big industrial plants in the city have also settled their tax accounts for the year.
Workers in New Castle received one of the biggest pay distributions in years as tin mills steel mills and engineering works paid their usual two weeks wages. Yesterday the four furnaces of the Carnegie Steel Company and the Republic furnace issued their payments.
J L Myland and his son Carl faced a speeding Pennsylvania train near Mahoningtown as gates rose. With the auto stalled on the tracks Myland rammed through a guardgate to clear the crossing narrowly missing the train. Attorney R K Aiken also narrowly escaped as gates lowered again.
