Elwood Crankshaft plant in Sharon expands to 80 million
Ellwood Crankshaft and Machine Co. lands up to 661000 in state aid for an 80 million Sharon plant project. The package includes 225000 job creation credits for 75 new jobs, 375000 Pennsylvania First Program aid, and up to 61000 for training. Groundbreaking is planned for fall as preparations begin. The facility, on Sharpsville Avenue, will be 200000 square feet and produce large ship crankshafts with two forging furnaces, separate from the Hermitage plant, with completion targeted for 2016. The cost rise from 52 million to 80 million is due in part to heavy concrete flooring.
