Poor Director H C Druschel announced a summer relief plan delivering daily milk to about 15 to 20 infants under two in city dependent families. The action follows an investigation into conditions during hot months and aims to relieve suffering and improve nourishment.
Rev. J. H. Breaden of the Wurtemburg U P church fell from a tree Monday while picking rheorics. He fractured several ribs but his condition is not serious and he is expected to be out again soon.
The cruiser New Orleans provided a large military escort for Alvin Root gunner's mate of the Albany whose corpse was found in the harbor. Rev. Austen of Seattle officiated at the funeral amid heavy rains. Harbor police suspect murder and say Root had solid credit with the ship's paymaster. W G Gilmore, manager for Arbuckle interests, testified before the Hardwick sugar trust committee that Arbuckle Bros lost about 1.25 million dollars in 1903 04 as part of a sugar war with the American Sugar Refining Company. He said the two sides have since adopted armed neutrality and continue business without direct assaults.

City treasurer reports about 130000 of city and school taxes paid so far this month with several large firms contributing in the past week. Carnegie Steel led with 22500, American Sheet and Tinplate 14000, Pennsylvania Engineering Works 2500, Republic Iron and Steel 1575, as discount on city tax expires Friday.
George A. Wallace collapsed in the office of Attorney E F G Harper Tuesday afternoon from a heart trouble episode. He revived and returned to Cleveland the same evening. Wallace, once a city resident now a Cleveland real estate man, previously injured heart muscles saving a drowning man in the Beaver river years ago. He sold the farms above Mahoningtown to railroad interests recently.
In Chicago on June 28 Vincenzo Nardi 35 and Antoinette Cottrello 35 are detained as police probe the death of Isabella Nardi 60 wife of Nardi. The elderly woman was found burned in her home and investigators say she was killed and the house set on fire. Nardi is suspected of murdering her for a life insurance policy worth 1000 dollars.
Police in New Castle reported one arrest in the past 24 hours a suspicious character was taken into custody and later released no further arrests were made overnight.
Obituary notices list Mary Dice aged 3 of North Beaver, Edward J. Shannon 69 of Pittsburgh, and Dorothy Angell of Pittsburgh. The items record deaths and resident locations for local notice purposes.
Lincoln Beachey, famed aviator, skimmed Niagara Falls yesterday and will perform multiple flights in New Castle for the Curtis Exhibition company. Dates moved to July 14 and 15 with two flights each day at the Seventh Ward race track.

Harvard University held its 275th commencement in Cambridge Massachusetts with the National Lancers absent and Gov Foss declining to attend a formal procession. The class was the largest in the university’s 275 year history with honorary degrees awarded to Judson Graves Schechter Royce and von Lange Meyer the secretary of the navy.
The Beaver Valley presbytery held its closing session at the First United Presbyterian church with routine business. The fall meeting is scheduled to be held in Beaver Falls.
Rush Culver testified before the Senate committee denying Shelley Jones's claim that Edward Hines spoke of Lorimer's election costing money and a slush fund. Culver said he last spoke with Hines in 1907 and cannot connect the topic to Lorimer's Senate election.
The schooner Signal, used to tow Oakland garbage out to sea, ran ashore on Camel's Bay rock near the Cliff house. Captain Nason and seven crewmen were rescued by breeches buoy in a fierce gale. the vessel worth about $50,000 is feared a total loss.
Mrs. L. A. Gray and Miss Jennie Anderson traveled to Mercer to attend the Epworth league convention in session. Gray will represent the Junior league of the First Methodist church and Anderson will represent the Italian mission.

Through a generous gift the Deaconess home on North Jefferson street will receive exterior painting and a new sidewalk. The donor's name is not disclosed.
Miss Sarah Varley a longtime bookkeeper for the Gallo Produce company waived a hearing and posted 1000 bail after being arrested on embezzlement charges. The firm audits show losses around 1011.75 dollars over two years. Varley previously pled guilty last time a small discrepancy led to suspension of sentence.
Indiana Pa June 28 with diplomas presented to 181 pupils the Indiana State Normal School closed its commencement. The salutatory was by Leon Metzger Ebensburg and the valedictory by Clara Morgan Canonsburg. Other speakers included Hugh M Bell Indiana Marie Greer Canonsburg Marie Ittell Johnstown Laura Eisman New Alexandria and Edna Binn Latrobe.
