Lawrence County rents space for 83 inmates from out of county including Clinton Beaver Butler and Mercer counties at 55 dollars per day per inmate. The arrangement adds about 32 thousand dollars weekly to the jail budget. About 10 of Lawrence County’s female inmates are housed at Cambria County jail, which as of June 15 held 220 inmates of 263 capacity. This partnership aims to ease county tax burdens as Lawrence County markets the jail to neighbors.
