Congressman Stephen G. Porter, longtime Pennsylvania representative from the 32nd district and a leader on narcotics control, died in Allegheny General Hospital after cirrhosis of the liver. He fell ill two months earlier aboard a ship returning from London and had previously been treated at Walter Reed in Washington.
