Couple Found Shot To Death Near Ironton, Ohio
Two people Mae Davis aged 40 and Evans Barnett aged 36 were found shot to death on a lonely road near Ironton Ohio. Sheriff Bernard Monte said both had police records and investigators considered gangland murder. Watchman Joseph Kidd found the bodies after being robbed of motor oil. Barnett was last seen with $200 on him but none was found with the body.

Child Suffered Fractured Skull In Park Avenue Crash
Six year old Marilyn Shiever, daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul A Shiever of 22515 Park Avenue, is in critical condition at Jameson Memorial Hospital with a fractured skull after being struck by Miss Dorothy Abbott’s car at Sumner Avenue and Albert Street Friday at 3 25 PM. Abbott states she slowed to 10 miles per hour as a boy ran across Albert Street. Marilyn emerged from between parked cars two feet from the bumper and was hit. The crash was investigated by cruiser car operator Harry Flinner.

National Guard Camp Is Opened In Pennsylvania
Cuban soldiers of the 53rd Cavalry Brigade of the Pennsylvania National Guard moved into the expansive Indiantown Gap military reservation for two weeks of practical training. In Lonoke Arkansas on June 26 18 year old Bernice Felton was acquitted in the murder of a Lit Rock planter. Her sweetheart Lester W Brockelhurst was sentenced to die in the electric chair August 27 for the Gates murder. Brockelhurst confessed to killing Gates and two others during a hitchhiking crime spree. Felton testified she aided none and denied coercion by Brockelhurst.
