Contempt Of Court Ruled In Case Here

Michael A. Orlando of 315 W. Wabash Ave. is found in contempt for missing a hearing last year and must turn over income tax returns at a new hearing. Judge John F. Henderson fined $50, with a $25 added if he misses the next hearing within 15 days, plus $75 in attorney fees to opponents. Orlando is suing three city men for libel damages over untrue testimony at a railway compensation hearing. The defendants are Frederick J. Lindperfer, Charles L. Hunter, and Stephen DeMasi. The judge ordered 1957 to 1961 tax returns produced, citing state rulings allowing access in such damage cases. Orlando had notice of a defense hearing before leaving town last fall, but his attorney advised postponement. Advise by an attorney does not prevent contempt.
