Pearson Couple Granted Bail After Court Hearing

Attorney W Fenton presented a petition in court this morning asking bail relief for Narcy and Dorothy Pearson. They were charged with attempting to procure an abortion and were indicted with Joseph Tinan. In a prior bail review Judge Emery reduced the bond from 1000 to FRAG, which was posted. The Pearsons, a well known railroad couple, had been jailed since March 28 with the case continued due to smallpox fears.

Ruth suspended for hitting umpire Owens in Boston game

CHICAGO Tyne 25 Babe Ruth, star pitcher of the Boston Americans, was indefinitely suspended today by American League president Ban Johnson. Ruth struck umpire Owens on the jaw in the first inning of the opening Washington Boston game after Owens ruled four balls on Morgan, the first batter.

Bride Dies By Husband

Tragic hotel double death unfolds at the Bellevue Stratford Philadelphia with naval officer Frederick Alexander and Miss Louise Jones believed to be involved. Cocchi Tries To Kill Self After Ruth Cruger Case

In New York June 25 Alfredo Cocchi the confessed killer of Ruth Cruger tried to kill himself in a Bologna cell by headbutting a wall. Police watched closely as a guard was stationed at the well door to thwart any attempt. Cocchi claimed he saw Ruth Cruger when she came to his shop to have skates sharpened and said he could not remember details but attacked and killed her. He spoke of visions of an electric chair after questioning began and fears extradition to the United States. The inquiry into police bungling in the Cruger case resumed, with Ruth Cruger’s father among the first witnesses. Relatives reported two more missing girls Louise Volz and Pearl Fisher.
