An airliner crash at Port Hardy B C on Sunday killed at least 17 people while another liner made an emergency belly landing in Minneapolis with no injuries. Survivors include stewardess Pat Wilson from Vancouver. Additional crashes in Illinois and Kentucky left several dead, with nine Navy men uninjured after a Neptune aircraft ditched near Ethan Allen AFB in Virginia.

Six teenagers died in a weekend automobile crash in New York near Painted Post. A seventh teen was critically injured. Among the dead were Roland Leinhos 17 salutatorian Jack Van Deventer 17 Dorothy 12 Patricia Bonzo 14 Mary Murray 15 and Stanley Bartlett 17.
