District renews security contract with Shaffer firm
The Wilmington Area school board renewed its two year contract with Shaffer Security & Investigation for 2015 16 and 2016 17. Officers will be paid 23 and 24 per hour with a 95 per event rate for games. Contracts require academy graduation and clearances. The board also moved Alex Taylor to full time, granted tenure to five teachers, staffed Title I summer school, urged state funding reform, noted cyber school tuition costs, and canceled July meeting.

Bridge collapse prompts study of reopening prospects
Pennsylvania transportation officials took concrete and rebar samples from a 103 year old bridge on U S Route 219 over Elk Creek to assess whether the southbound side can reopen after the northbound side collapsed during demolition injuring three workers. A 15 mile detour around Ridgway's North Broad Street Bridge will remain in place indefinitely as the $2.2 million rebuild proceeds, with completion planned in October.
