China Banquet Food Recall After Stale Truck Refrigeration
About 15 years after opening in New Castle at 102 S. Jefferson St, China Banquet faced a string of troubles including two fires, a six month closure, and a May 28 incident where Mahoning Township police seized about 2,000 pounds of spoiled food from a delivery truck bound for eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. The cross contamination stemmed from a faulty refrigeration unit and improper storage. None of the spoiled meat reached local restaurants and no citations were issued. Manager Brent Lin stated the business was thriving before the recall news, and noted most food comes from a Pittsburgh supplier and Sysco.
