Joseph H. Boyd of Princeton elected to succeed Harry Good as chairman of the Western county Democratic committee. J O Rodgers named secretary as the organization meeting planned for today. Good had led the committee for twelve years and did not seek re election.
The office is seen as a capable successor to Mr Good, with attendees at the meeting expressing confidence in the chosen candidate.
Two men die and eight are injured in the worst cave-in in Quemahoning mines history near Johnstown Pa Hungarian miners were affected and State Mine Inspector Cunningham is on site. Quemahoning Coal Co a New York Philadelphia company mines a special bituminous coal used in the navy.
Maurice Presser waived a hearing at Alderman J Lee Coopers office on felonious assault and battery charged by Mrs Gertrude Kohler and aggravated assault and battery charged by Joseph Levine for Louis Kohler a minor. He posted bail for trial at the September term of court.
The body of Miss Nellie S. Russell who died suddenly Thursday evening while dancing at the park pavilion was taken Saturday morning to her home in Columbiana Ohio for funeral services and interment. Her brother Gordon L. Russell of Pittsburgh arrived to arrange the proceedings.
Niagara Ontario June 20 The Villaist faction claims Carranza is deposed and Felipe Angeles is Mexico's president. A Mexican consul in El Paso cites intercepted Juarez messages denying any settlement and notes Carranza plans a forceful overthrow aided by Governor Maytorena of Sonora and Elias Calles with 2000 troops.
City council acted after complaints about a statement by Garbage Collector John VY Travers claiming tin cans could not be placed in garbage receptacles. The contract requires tin cans be collected with garbage, so officials will publish corrections and require accurate notices.
A suffragette arson squad attacked a depot near Wrexham burning a railway station and trying to set a freight train alight but were driven off before completing the act.
Hillcrest Alberta June 20 rescue squads dig into Mine No 20 wreckage as 197 men are entombed after yesterday’s explosion. 41 survivors remain, flames lash the shaft area, and emergency crews race to penetrate the interior. The event follows two earlier fatal mine disasters in the Crows Nest Pass region.
The national convention of the Photographers' Association of America elected officers led by President William H. Towers of Washington. L. A. Dozier Bucyrus and Ryland W. Phillips Philadelphia named first and second vice presidents. R. W. Holzinger Charlottesville, Va., named treasurer. Indianapolis chosen as next convention city. Women’s federations also chose officers: Maybell Goodlander Munice Ind., Clara Louise Higgins Chicago, Sarah Price Mount Ayr Pa., and Bayard Wooten Newbern N C as secretary treasurer.
About 100 attendees joined the Fourth Presbyterian church Men’s club picnic at Cascade park. A baseball game pitted the Men’s club against the Lookout club, with Lookout winning 15 to 3. Grimm and Cooper retain the horseshoe title as A. E. Yoho missed the event. Supper followed and the evening closed pleasantly.

Sam DiCarlo a Rose Point merchant faced fast driving charges after being chased up East Washington street hill by Officer Harry Smith in an auto. DiCarlo claimed he could not stop the horse and that the animal’s speed was not intentional while transporting fruit. The horse wagon and cargo were housed at a local livery with DiCarlo later released by the mayor following questioning.
Death notices list Mrs. Daniel S. Carnes of 121 North Bay street and Mrs. Joseph Cowan aged 32 of Ellwood City alongside Philo McCaslin 75 of Bartow Florida and Mrs. A. V. DuShane 57 of A17 Lyndal street.
A Farman aeroplane collided with a Parseval dirigible at 600 feet over a Vienna military aerodrome. The blast ignited both airships, killing nine men including 56 officers and sending survivors leaping from burning wreckage as spectators watched in horror. Ground crews fought flames as doctors rushed to aid the victims.

Robert A. McKinney reports $52000 of a $75000 goal subscribed for a New Castle hosiery plant employing 150 to 200 workers. Currents indicate the rest will be raised to start in fall, with 20 percent dividends and local directors and treasurer to safeguard funds.
Westinghouse strike at East Pittsburg shows signs of peace as President Herr and officials plan talks with the strikers grievance committee. Swissvale and Edgewood merchants provided several hundred watermelons and buttermilk to local home strikers.

The excursion steamer Majestic sank near St. Louis after hitting a concrete water intake tower on the Mississippi River. A six woman deputation of suffragettes, led by Sylvia Pankhurst, met Premier Asquith in London to seek unconditional release for Sylvia. Asquith said he would confer with Home Secretary McKenna but gave no firm pledge, stressing expansion of the franchise on democratic grounds.
YMCA members decide to hold the annual camp at North Girard on Lake Erie. Arrangements are under way to secure the grounds and campers will spend two weeks following the Fourth of July.
Brick work on the new Eagles club house on South Jefferson street is about completed. The three story structure is under roof and interior finishing will soon begin.
