Twins star fights leukemia and keeps baseball dream alive
Danny Thompson, Minnesota Twins shortstop, aged 26, was diagnosed with chronic granulocytic leukemia after a pre season checkup. He had led all shortstops in both leagues with a .276 average in his previous season and continues to train and play as doctors monitor his condition. He remains hopeful, citing medical advances and his faith as sources of strength while managing injuries and a hamstring setback.
