Judge Fights To Feature Coming Fall Elections
Harrisburg Pa June 19 Petition signing for the coming election of county judges started throughout the state. Thirty two county judges will be elected this year with some counties electing more than one. Nomination petitions are due by July 2010 with the secretary of the commonwealth. The slate includes twenty six for courts of common pleas and a Philadelphia municipal court seat plus others in Allegheny and Berks counties. The first legal date for petitions for offices other than judgeships is July 9 with petitions due August 1. The State Bar Association meeting is nearing with plans completed and features including a review of the 1925 General Assembly by George B Alter former Speaker and Bar Association president. Governor Pinchot grants a respite delaying Joseph Valotta's execution to January 17 1926 setting two records in the case. Valotta's appeal will go to the U S Supreme Court in November.
